Maxfli is owned by Dick's Sporting Goods, and Foremost Golf Mfg in Taiwan has made its golf balls. Dick's bought the Maxfli brand from TaylorMade-adidas Golf in February 2008. US import records list Foremost as the shipper of golf balls to a Dick's supply chain company, with descriptions naming Maxfli models up to a 2025 Maxfli Tour X shipment that arrived in October 2026. MyGolfSpy reported in 2024 that the Maxfli Tour, Tour X and Tour S are all produced by Foremost.

So Dick's owns and sells the brand, and a contract factory in Taiwan has pressed the balls.

01Who owns Maxfli

Maxfli changed hands in 2008. TaylorMade-adidas Golf announced on February 15, 2008 that it had sold "its Maxfli and related trademarks to Dick's Sporting Goods", effective February 11, 2008. The same release said the Noodle trademark and all of TaylorMade's golf ball patents stayed with TaylorMade. That is why Noodle stayed with TaylorMade while Maxfli went to the retailer. We cover Noodle in who makes golf balls.

On the USGA's List of Conforming Golf Balls, a search for "Maxfli" on October 22, 2026 returned 70 listings. 56 were submitted by Dick's Sporting Goods. The other 14 were submitted by Sumitomo Rubber Industries; we didn't establish which markets those cover, so this page is about the Dick's line sold in the US.

02What the US import records show

Dick's doesn't import under the name "Maxfli". Its golf balls arrive addressed to Dick's Merchandising & Supply Chain, Dick's merchandising and supply chain company in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania.

ShipperWhereShipments to Dick'sWhat the records say
Foremost Golf MfgTaipei, Taiwan289Golf balls, with descriptions naming Maxfli, Maxfli Tour and Softfli; October 2026: "GOLF BALLS MX25TOURX48;2025MAXFLI"

The count is from Foremost's ImportYeti profile on October 22, 2026, whose records run from 2015 to October 2026. ImportGenius shows the most recent Maxfli shipment arriving on October 12, 2026.

What the records don't show:

  • Every Maxfli model. Many descriptions say only "golf balls". The ones that name a model show Tour and Softfli lines, but we didn't confirm the source of every Maxfli ball.
  • Dick's other ball suppliers. Dick's imports a huge range of goods, and we did not review its whole supplier list. Another plant could make some Maxfli models.
  • Exclusivity or approval. Shipments show a relationship at a date, nothing more.

Foremost's records carry an office address in Taipei's Neihu District, not the plant's location.

03What testing and the golf press say

MyGolfSpy's October 2024 survey of where golf balls are made says Maxfli's Tour, Tour X and Tour S are all produced by Foremost, and calls Foremost the only third-party factory whose Ball Lab results meet or beat some of the top five ball makers. The same survey describes a 318-dimple Foremost cover on the Maxfli Tour and a 336-dimple Foremost cover on the Tour X.

That fits the import records, which name Maxfli Tour models in Foremost shipments. Dick's hasn't published a factory name that we found.

04Maxfli models and what is on record for each

The evidence is strongest for the Tour family. As of October 22, 2026:

ModelWhat we foundSource
Maxfli TourProduced by Foremost; named in Foremost shipments to Dick'sMyGolfSpy (2024), import records
Maxfli Tour XProduced by Foremost; "MX25TOURX" in an October 2026 Foremost shipmentMyGolfSpy (2024), ImportGenius
Maxfli Tour SProduced by ForemostMyGolfSpy (2024)

Other Maxfli linesNot on record in what we reviewed

The USGA list carries 56 Maxfli listings under Dick's Sporting Goods, so there are more balls on the list than we can tie to a factory. If your model isn't in the table, the box is your best evidence.

05How to read one of these records

Here is the October 12, 2026 shipment as ImportGenius shows it: "GOLF BALLS MX25TOURX48;2025MAXFLI/NCOLR/NSIZESHIPPER LOAD AND COUNT".

  • Shipper: Foremost Golf Mfg. The company that handed the cargo to the carrier, usually the factory.
  • Consignee: Dick's Merchandising & Supply Chain, a Dick's company.
  • "MX25TOURX48": an item code. It reads as a 2025 Maxfli Tour X item, which matches "2025MAXFLI" in the same line, but item codes are the shipper's own and we haven't seen Dick's catalog numbers to confirm it.
  • "NCOLR/NSIZE": these look like placeholder fields for color and size.
  • "Shipper load and count": the carrier didn't count the cartons; the shipper did.

One line like this is a lead. Many lines over years, naming the same models, are evidence.

06How to judge a Maxfli ball

  • Read the box. The country of origin tells you whether your model comes from the same place as the Tour line.
  • Match it to the USGA list. Look for the Dick's Sporting Goods listing for your model and color.
  • Know the tiers. Tour, Tour X and Tour S are the urethane models in MyGolfSpy's reporting. For Maxfli's other lines, such as Softfli, we didn't find reporting on where each is made.
  • Look at the cover. Dimple counts are factory fingerprints, and matching counts across brands often point to the same factory.
  • Use a cut test, not a label. The same factory can make a great ball and an average one at different price points.

07How to get your own golf balls made

Maxfli shows what a retailer can do with a strong name and a capable contract plant. A small brand can use the same model:

  1. Choose a construction and price point first. That narrows the factories to a handful.
  2. Use the importer's legal name in records. For Maxfli it is Dick's Merchandising & Supply Chain, not the brand. Most brands' terms or privacy policies give the legal name.
  3. Verify the shipper. Search its name and address, check its catalog, and confirm it makes balls rather than trading them.
  4. Sample against a reference ball. Measure, weigh and cut. Ask how the factory checks consistency in production.

08A note on these records

Brand to factory connections here are historical. Foremost Golf Mfg has made Maxfli golf balls and shipped them to Dick's Merchandising & Supply Chain at the dates shown. That doesn't make it the only or an authorized supplier for every Maxfli model. ProductGods is not affiliated with Maxfli, Dick's Sporting Goods, TaylorMade or any factory named.

QQuestions

Q01Is Maxfli owned by TaylorMade?

Not since 2008. TaylorMade-adidas Golf sold the Maxfli trademarks to Dick's Sporting Goods, effective February 11, 2008. TaylorMade kept the Noodle trademark and its golf ball patents.

Q02Where are Maxfli golf balls made?

Import records show Maxfli balls arriving from Foremost Golf Mfg in Taiwan, most recently a 2025 Maxfli Tour X shipment in October 2026. Check the box of your model for its country of origin.

Q03Does Dick's make Maxfli balls itself?

Dick's owns the brand, not a ball plant that we found. The balls in the import records arrive at Dick's Merchandising & Supply Chain from Foremost Golf Mfg in Taiwan, a contract factory.

Q04Who makes Maxfli Softfli?

Foremost shipments to Dick's include descriptions naming Softfli. We didn't find reporting that confirms the source of every Softfli batch, so check the box.
