Hoodie manufacturers

A hoodie is a knit garment, so the factories that make good hoodies are knit and cut and sew factories: the same mills that make sweatshirts, joggers, polos and activewear. These are the ones in The Vault.

How to choose hoodie manufacturers

What to look for in a hoodie manufacturer

The fabric makes the hoodie. Decide the weight, the knit (fleece or French terry), the fiber and the finish, then find a factory that makes that fabric or sources it well. Ask for fabric swatches before you ask for a sample.

None of these factories is a hoodie only shop. They are knit and cut and sew factories, and the card shows what each makes most. Pick the ones whose main products are closest to a heavyweight knit.

  • Fabric: weight, composition, brushed or loopback, and shrinkage after washing.
  • Construction details: rib cuffs and hem, hood lining, drawcord and eyelets, seams.
  • Decoration in house: embroidery, screen print, puff print, garment dye.
  • Brands they have produced for in streetwear, athletic or golf, shown on the cards.

MOQs and sampling

Minimums are per style and color, and a custom fabric or a garment dye adds the mill's minimum. Wash test every sample: measure before and after, because shrinkage and twisting are where cheap hoodies fail.

Domestic or overseas

Domestic cut and sew is good for small premium runs and fast reorders. Overseas knit factories in Peru, Asia and Europe make sense once a style is proven. Decorating blanks is the cheapest way to test a design before going custom.

Questions to ask on the first call

Ask for things you can measure. A factory that answers in specifics (fabric weight, composition, shrinkage percentage after wash) is one that controls its quality.

  • Which fleece and French terry fabrics do you stock, and at what weights?
  • What shrinkage do you allow after washing, and how do you pre shrink?
  • Can you garment dye or enzyme wash in house?
  • What is the minimum per color, and does a custom fabric change it?

Brand connections are historical. They show that a factory has produced for a brand at some point, from US import records, a disclosure by the factory or the brand, the press, or our own supplier research. They do not mean the factory makes for the brand today, and brands do not endorse ProductGods.

FAQ3 questions

Questions

Q01What fabric is best for a premium hoodie?

Most premium hoodies use a heavy cotton fleece or French terry. Our materials pages on French terry and fleece explain the difference from a maker's side.

Q02Should I use blank hoodies or make them custom?

Blanks are fastest and cheapest to start and let you test designs. Custom gives you your own fit, fabric and details, at higher minimums and longer lead times.

Q03Where are the factory contacts?

Emails, phone numbers, the person to ask for and our notes on each factory are in The Vault, inside Product Sourcing Secrets.
